Several years ago I designed this medallion style quilt that finishes 40" x 40" for the Carol Doak Yahoo Group as an Anniversary Mystery Pattern. It was widely successful and the members enjoyed making it. I have seen this quilt worked in many different types of fabrics and colors and they all turned out wonderful. The quilt features simple units broken down into segments. I have reworked the pattern so that everything is included on this CD. Included are: the cutting directions for the fabric, the step-by-step procedures and the foundations that can be printed right from the CD. The files on the CD are pdf files so they are easy to use.

I designed these blocks several years ago for the Carol Doak Quilting Group. Each block is 12" finished size and is paper pieced from 4 to 9 units. The quilt as shown (6" finished size borders) will finish 48" x 60", but you could easily make additional blocks to make it larger. There are no fabric yardages included in this pattern because the purpose of this quilt is to use a wide variety of fabric/colors from your fabric stash to make this quilt. The block pieces will accommodate lots of scraps. I have included colored block selections for each month to give you a sense of the background area of each block, but you may change the colors to fit your style. Even if you would like one color for the background such as the black that is shown, you can use a variety of black fabrics for the background area changing them from block to block. The foundations for each block are included on the CD so they can be printed from your computer onto Carol Doak Foundation Paper. Also included for each block is a cutting list for the number and size pieces needed to complete each block so there is no guess work. I created this Simply Radiant block of the month for the Carol Doak Quilting group in 2010. There are 12 different, monthly blocks, each finishing 12" and the connector block design that permits your eye to move diagonally across the quilt. The center portion finishes 60" square but it can easily be increased in size by adding your borders. All of the block designs are paper pieced ensuring success. The CD is the pdf format so it is easy for everyone to use. Make it a month at a time or whip it up all at once. The quilt featured in the picture was made by Mary Dorchak. Mary used a group of coordinating fabrics, but this is also an opportunity to work it in scraps, batiks or any combination that pleases you.
