Yeah!!!! It is here and now available in the web store. I am so thrilled with the way this book has come out and I believe you will love using it to create your own one-of-a-kind stylish vest. These vests are sooooo easy to make and I love wearing them! With the holidays approaching, why not make a vest to wear for those special events or as a gift for your friends in their special color or theme.
Review: I just read my first review of this new book and thought I would share it with you.
Carol Doak Revisits An Old Favorite
Sept. 29, 2008 Penny Haren
It has been ten years since Carol Doak inspired us all with her Easy Reversible Vests. And in that time, this book has sold over 100,000 copies! But times have changed and it was time to revisit this classic! While the basic tenants of the original book stand the test of time, she and her students have embellished, accented and expanded them so much that it was time for an update!
This new book includes the foundation patterns for a simple vest. But that is where simplicity ends! Carol uses these foundations as a means to teach paper-piecing, Seminole piecing, strip piecing and embellishing. And, for those of you who would love to try your hand at garment sewing - she teaches you the basics of that too.
But, PLEASE don’t pass on this book because you don’t sew clothing! You will be missing her simple, easy to follow instructions - with illustrations galore. These techniques can easily be incorporated into any of your projects. Consider teaching a series of classes - each month showcasing a particular technique. Carol is a wonderful teacher with years of experience. There are hints and tricks on every page that make this a must read for everyone!
Book of the Month
40 Bright & Bold Paper-Pieced Blocks
One of my favorites from this book is the Spinners Quilt that permits you to make a quilt featuring four different star designs in one quilt from just one paper-pieced block. I also love the optical illusion the pattern makes resembling a double-wedding ring quilt. I've reduced the cost of this out-of-print book from $29 to $19. To give you the opportunity to pick up the bundle package of the book and the Foundation Factory CD to easily print the patterns in this book, I have also made the bundled package of the book and the cd a Surprize Sale item at $34. Visit the web store http://www.caroldoak.com/store.php to take advantage of these reduced prices this month to pick up the book or the book and the CD!
Carol Doak's Corner
http://carolscorner-carol.blogspot.com/I just returned from the west coast after spending several days shooting a new Companion DVD to go with my new Easy Reversible Vest-Revised Edition book. I shared more pictures in my latest blog.
It was great fun and I love the opportunity to make this product available (which will be very soon!) to quilters to actually watch the entire process unfold. After the receiving such positive responses from quilters to my Carol Doak Teaches You to Paper Piece DVD, I look forward to the release of this new DVD.
The Carol Doak Yahoo Quilting Group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CarolDoakQuiltingGroup/The Block of the Month that ended in September has yielded some really wonderful quilts. The quilt at the left was made by Tris Thompson. It is amazing how different all the tops are in this album.
Our little intimate group of over 4000 quilters from around the world continues to be active with all sorts of activities. Currently, there is a beginner paper piecing swap going on with more swaps planned for the future.
The Triple Treat Challenge will end this month. It is amazing how creative our quilters are and seeing all the creative results in the photo albums is so inspiring.

On The Road Again
Next week I will be leaving for a teaching trip to Oregon. When I return home, I will be preparing for the trip to the International Quilt Festival and Market. I love going to Market and Festival because I get to visit with some old friends, make some new ones and I always come home inspired!I hope to meet some of you along the way.
All the best,
Carol
