March 2003
I've been telling myself for months that I should include a periodic newsletter on my web page to share news with you all, and with several new and exciting things on the horizon, I have decided to jump in and just begin.
If you have received your recent Quilter's Newsletter Magazine, you know that I have begun a series of Easy Lessons about paper piecing. The focus of this series is to share paper-piecing techniques that will add to your enjoyment of this wonderful technique. The last few articles will focus on my approach to designing paper-pieced designs and how to dissect traditionally pieced designs with a view towards paper piecing them. I am excited about this series and the opportunity to share these concepts.
In the way of news, I want to let you know that two of my earlier books, Easy Mix & Match Machine Paper Piecing and Easy Paper-Pieced Keepsake Quilts are going out of print. I knew it would happen someday, but it is sad to know that they will no longer be available on bookshelves. I have purchased a supply of each of these books and will have them available for mail order until my supply runs out.
Another bit of exciting news is that I am designing a line of fabric that will be available in the fall. Like most quilters, I am passionate about fabric and having the opportunity to design a group of fabrics that fulfill my fantasies of everything I want in colors and textures is just so much fun. As things develop, I will keep you posted.
I often hear from quilters all over the country about the projects they have made from my designs and have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful quilters as I travel to teach and lecture. I want to thank you for your support and encouragement.
Until next time,
All the best,
Carol Doak
