Carol Doak Web Store

I just returned from the International Quilt Market and Festival and Houston. I am tired, but it was a wonderful show from beginning to end. My new Carol Doak Easy Reversible Vest DVD was launched at the show. It was very well received so you should see it showing up at your local quilt shop soon.
Just as soon as my supply arrives, I will add it to my web store. I think it is a great companion product to my new book, Easy Reversible Vests-Revised Edition. If you are the type of person who learns best by being shown, then you will love the opportunity to learn from the DVD.

I am now down to just a few boxes of the Rotary Point Cutter, so if this is a tool you would like to have, I suggest you order quickly.

Book of the Month

http://www.caroldoak.com/store.php

On a recent teaching trip to Oregon, one of the students brought her collection of Mariner`s Compass Star blocks made from bright scrap fabrics. They were fabulous!
Therefore, I decided to make this book the book of the month this month and reduce the price. This book comes with the Foundation Factory CD to print the foundations in any size you would like. These blocks look complex, but they really are quick and easy to make. Each block represents a country or area of the world. Take advantage of the reduced price this month to add this one to your library.

New Free Patterns

There are now two new free patterns up on the web page. The block at the left is the 700 Member Celebration block I did for our Yahoo group when we reached 700 members. It is perfect for making a dramatic scrap quilt.

I also created a simple little block to use in Easy Reversible Vests. This block can also be used to make small quilts. Enjoy!

I just updated my blog to include lots of pictures of my trip to Houston. I had every intention of doing it while I was there. That didn't happen...lol...just way too much to do and see.

It was great fun meeting up with old friends and making some new friends. I was sooooo impressed with the quilts this year and shared some of my favorites.

Stop by my blog and see the pictures and read about my Houston trip.

We now have almost 4300 members enjoying the fun. I just started a new Block of the Month. This year it is Scenic Blocks and members are have a good time putting their creativity to good use with wonderful details in their blocks. This picture is the first block, the October block, and was done by Mary Anne.
Come by and join in the fun!

On The Road Again

The good news is that I am home this week teaching at a large show here in New Hampshire, The Gathering. I will be heading to the Dallas/Fort Worth area later this month.
I have updated my online travel schedule through the end of 2009. I will upload by 2010 schedule soon and it will be a limited schedule. In recent years I have taken about 40 trips a year and in 2010, I will reduce the number of trips.
After much consideration, I have made the decision not to travel at all to teach in 2011. When I began this career some 27 years ago, I made the decision to have balance in different aspects of the jobs that I do. In recent years, the creative time at home has been put on the back burner. It is time for me to put it on the front burner. I look forward to my time at home in 2011 creating and designing. Who knows what will emerge from time creating and designing...I am excited about the time to explore the possibilities.
Until next time,
Carol
